I still hear the motor running but it doesnt seem to be catching, it opens slightly but stops and it still works closing so the problem only seems to be affecting the opening. Ideas before I pull it apart?

Just an assumption that it would be the motor. Could be a tough item to find, but if you can find one to fit where your existing one is now, you could use a window lift motor too. Had a friend do this because they couldn't find the correct motor for their 96.
