'92 DX overheating?

1st - 5th Gen Honda Civic As these Honda Civics get older and older they become harder to find in great condition and less popular to modify. By no means does this make them less of a contender on the track or car audio competition. Don't forget the roots of what made import tuning what it has become today.

'92 DX overheating?

Is my dad's '92 sedan overheating? He has air con but the belt is off and it isn't functional otherwise...

When idling for a few minutes the temp gauge will get maybe 3/4's of the way up. The fan does come on though. It cools back down when he goes to drive it.

He was asking if the radiator should be rodded and if the engine should be flushed. Is this normal? Bad thermostat? Or should he go ahead and have those things done?
