Window seal/weatherstripping

1st - 5th Gen Honda Civic As these Honda Civics get older and older they become harder to find in great condition and less popular to modify. By no means does this make them less of a contender on the track or car audio competition. Don't forget the roots of what made import tuning what it has become today.

Window seal/weatherstripping

My '92 LX 4-dr driver's door window does not seem to want to go up right. It looks like the upper-rear of the window is a little too far forward. But I don't know if that's the cause of my problem or not. The seal at the top keeps wanting to get caught behind the window, so it has torn about 4 inches from the back. Forward of that, it seems fine, but behind, I have to stick a credit card or drivers license, or something in to force it to the outside of the window. My next door neighbor has a 5th gen car almost identical to mine, and his is the same way.

Is this a common problem, and what's the fix?

Dave

Re: Window seal/weatherstripping

I took the door panel off and there is a lot of play in the regulator where the arms meet the track on the bottom of the window. I may have to replace the regulator first. I'll have to wait and see. It's our 'third' vehicle, so if it's out of commission for a few days, no big deal.

Thanks!
Dave
