Car Dies After Starting

1st - 5th Gen Honda Civic As these Honda Civics get older and older they become harder to find in great condition and less popular to modify. By no means does this make them less of a contender on the track or car audio competition. Don't forget the roots of what made import tuning what it has become today.

Car Dies After Starting

The car is a 1994 Civic EX 5 speed. Body has 230,000 miles on it, 150,000 on the motor. Which is a D16Z6 SOHC VTEC.

What is doing is dying after being started. It starts up great, and then proceeds to idle great too. But after idling for around 30-55 seconds, it instantly dies. Start again dies again same way.

What could be causing this? maybe fuel pump bad? ignition?

Any help appreciated greatly

My parents had this issue 2 months ago. The fuel pump was getting power and you could hear it coming on but there was no suction. We replaced it and no more problems.

Re: Car Dies After Starting

I had same problem with mine.
Check the fuses under the bonnet and the dash, maybe the one thats linked to the fuel flow or ECU may be gone. If not, u mite need a new fuel pump

Re: Car Dies After Starting

Have you checked the "Main Relay"?
This latches in the fuel pump after the car starts. I have had a main relay that would let the car start and run for a few minutes, then un-latch the fuel pump.
