1st - 5th Gen Honda Civic As these Honda Civics get older and older they become harder to find in great condition and less popular to modify. By no means does this make them less of a contender on the track or car audio competition. Don't forget the roots of what made import tuning what it has become today.

sway problems with 1991 honda civi LX

Hi I am new to the forum and I have a question. When I drive particularly when I hit bumps the car sways.

In January I took the car to Honda dealer to service the car. They informed me that Lower ball joints needed to be fixed. I was charged $428.00. I still have the same problem.
My car only has 65,000 miles on it. I feel it is good condition but I feel I going to bad Mechanics.

I also was told that my brakes were bad. The dealer told me my Master clynder -incl flushing fluid and 2. Rear shoes, Wheel clynder all for $410.00. Now my brake light has come on again just 3 months later.

I also told him when I try to shift my car from park to drive it gets stuck and I can't take the key out of the ignition. I was told that I would need the tramission shifter cable fix for $459.00. Then I read in this forum that someone had same problem with their 1991 Civic and the ignition key was worn.

I think that the Mechanics are taking advantage of my lack of knowledge of cars. I would like to get someone opinion if The problem with sway of the car is really the ball joints. If I should go back to dealer with complaints that the car was not fixed correctly. I did not get the tramission shifter cable fixed but I did pay $1,334.10 to get the brakes and ball joints done. Thank you in advance for any advice you could give me.

Sway steering is not good when I drive especially on a road with pot holes. The balance of the car is not even. It feels like it is tilting to much to the left.

I will just try getting another key for the Transmission shift problem.
