1st - 5th Gen Honda Civic As these Honda Civics get older and older they become harder to find in great condition and less popular to modify. By no means does this make them less of a contender on the track or car audio competition. Don't forget the roots of what made import tuning what it has become today.

Bit more poop

Hi, I'm completely new to this forum, and I can see this topic being posted countless times before so I'm sorry if this is a bad post in that regard.

I bought a '91 Civic LX last summer, and over all I am really pleased with the car except for a few occasions where it is lacking in power. About 10times a year I go over a road called the Connector/Coquihala, this is in BC, Canada. It's got a lot of really steep stressfull roads where the car seems to be craving more power.

I was just wondering what options where out there to get a fairly cheap 20-40 more horsepower. Idealy I wouldn't want to do much to the exhaust system to cause it to sound like one of those loud street racers(no offense intended, it's just not my thing).

Again, sorry if this is a repost.

Tom.

beeing an ex. 4gen owner i can saythat a MPFI swap is the best thing u can do on the stock D15B2 motor. the 88-91 SI and the 90-91 EX had MPFI.

i dont know if this site has it or not but Honda-Tech.com does for sure. just search "MPFI swap"

u need:
complete intake manifold. injectors, sensors, throttlebody etc.
si/ex distributor. has a third sensor in it needed for the MPFI
si/ex computer. si and manual ex had PM6, auto ex had PS9.

on a side note i have all but the intake for sale

advance the dizzy and upgrade to obd-1 and swap a d16z6 vtec multi point fuel injection head and ecu.... cheap and easy fix.... about $500 should do it using used parts and doing the labor urself.... it should take a rookie a full 10hr. day.... good luck
