92 automatic LX. Motor threw a rod so we replaced it with a Y7 (that's why I posted in this generation). Anyways, it runs fine but has serious issues starting after its been sitting for a few hours. It cranks but I have to pump the gas rapidly and then keep my foot on the gas for 10 seconds after it starts or it'll just idle at like 100 rpm and almost die or die. Once it's running, it runs fine and drives fine. Has no issues starting again unless it sits for more than like 3 hours. Fuel filter was replaced a few months ago before the engine was swapped, fuel pump seems to prime fine and work fine, main relay has been replaced. I just don't know what is causing it to start like this.

Have you tried turning the ignition on and waiting a few seconds before cranking it? Even cycling the key on and off a couple times. Maybe the check valve in the pump has gone and is letting the fuel drain back into the tank.

Like Colin said, cycle the key on and off a few times to "prime" the system and see if that helps. I had an old escort that I had to that to, replaced the fuel pump and problem went away.
