Swapping a D16 engine

I have a 1998 Honda Civic HX and I've researched and it turns out that my car's engine is mainly ment for saving gas and adding headers, exhaust, intake, etc. will only make the car louder but not much faster. I want to know if it is possible to engine swap it for a F20 engine or K20 engine. Please help.

Re: Swapping a D16 engine

Of course engine swaps are possible. How much skill do you have? How much equipment/tools do you have access to? Have you ever swap engines before. You could install an f20b, h22, b16/18, k20/24. Every swap has different issues that will need addressed. None of the swaps mentioned are extremely cheap or painless. The more you spend to get the custom pieces needed for each swap the easier the swap will be, but the price will increase.

I know nothing about swapping engines or where to even begin, is there such shop that does engine swaps for you?

Depending on where you live there might be reputable shops with experience in honda engine swaps. Paying someone else to perform the swap will carry a steep pricetag.

I would suggest doing research about the types of engine swaps and compare that against what performance gains you are hoping for. Is this a daily driver? Future race/hobby car?

Me personally, if I was looking to do a civic engine swap for a daily driver I would be looking at finding a wrecked 1998-2002 accord 4 cylinder with a manual trans. The F23 was a great engine with amazing reliability and low price tag. It wasn't the most powerful engine, but it isn't uncommon for them to make it to 300K+ miles. It would propel a 98 fairly well.
