1996 civic break issues

I have a 1996 honda civic hatchback... just picked it up and the brake pedal goes straight to the floor. It was low on fluid do I filled the fluid and pumped the brakes... the pedal got firm and I thought I was in the clear. But as soon as I start the car the pedal goes back to the floor...

Anyone else experience this???

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Re: 1996 civic break issues

Is it leaving puddles of brake fluid on the pavement after pumping the pedal several times?
Brake line rusted out, usually happens in the rear on the drivers side.....but it could be anywhere.

You may discover the fuel lines are in scary bad shape back there too.
Maybe the gas tank is rusted out, leaks if you try to fill it more than halfway.

So I filled the brake fluid reservoir and turned the car on... tried bleeding the rear brakes just to rule out major air in the line... as I completely opened the bleeder valve I saw the huge puddle of brake fluid coming from the middle of the car... fuel lines and tank looked good tho...
