If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Looks like you circled the sway bar (stabilizer bar). What's wrong with it?
Looks like you have a crapton of rust under there too.

There is a lot of rust. And where it mounts is busted..I'm not sure how to go about fixing it.

I can't tell what broke in the pic.
If the half-circle steel bracket rotted through, you can buy that.

Re: Can anyone tell me what this is and how to fix it?

If it ripped the mounting pad out of the subframe, that's a bit trickier.

Re: Can anyone tell me what this is and how to fix it?

Ok that pic looks like it ripped the mounting pad out of the subframe.

Technically it would be needing a subframe (may be called a crossmember?), if what I see is correct.
but....If there's that much rust, the rest of the car may not be very structurally sound.

Maybe you can find someone to weld it, but there may be too much rust to do that.

Re: Can anyone tell me what this is and how to fix it?

Looks like too much rust, to me, as well. However, I'm not a certified welder, nor can I see it in person, so take our opinions with a grain of salt.
