I got a spectrum short ram intake from a friend today, he totaled his civic via tree.... anyway, the intake came off of his '94 civic ex, i have a '99 ex and it fits, but.... there are a few hoses (1 or 2) that don't have anywhere to connect to on the intake pipe....because its designed for an earlier model.
IS THIS A PROBLEM...? will it cause damage to my engine to have unconnected hoses? is it still efficient? should i switch back to stock?
additional info: i believer one of the hoses is a sensor...
THANKS A BUNCH!!

keep stock regardless. it has been proven that without a tune, any aftermarket air intake actually makes the car LOSE power. it won't be efficient because those hoses are for different things that your engine needs.

They don't necessarily cause you to lose power, per se, but rather shifts the power band. Sure, you lose low end power (typically 1-3 HP in the low RPM bands), but gain upper RPM band power (also typically ~1-3 HP, usually <5500rpm). Problem is, most of us spend more time in the lower rpm band for daily driving use.
Those "missing connections" is probably something like IAT (intake air temp) sensor and maybe crankcase breather. Not entirely sure, sice I'm basing this off of speculation.
