My B18b1 I swapped in 2 years ago has held up great until recently when i chipped a valve, so now its practically running on 3 cylinders... I bought a B16a1 head off a friend and had it ported and polished. Since I'm pulling the head anyway, it's time to put the SI head on it. The hardest part is going to be tracking down all the odds and ends to get it going again. Has anyone here done this and if so how'd it turn out?

Re: Frankenstein Ls-Vtec

Really, not a single person in this forum has any kind of experience with this? Sad...

Re: Frankenstein Ls-Vtec

You will need a B18B1 Head gasket, you will need to tap and plug the VTEC oil supply hole on the bottem left side of the head, then run an oil supply line from a t-fitting placed on the oil pressure sending unit on the block to the vtec oil gally plug on the intake side of the head, and a wiring harness and ECU that support vtec, also you have to modify the knock sensor circuit on the harness into a functioning circuit (wire in a grounded K/S or appropriate resistor) since B18B1's dont have a K/S or even a place for them. Im not sure about the B16A1 head, but I know on a B18C you must machine the dowel pin holes on the head to 9/16. that should be it
