I was just debating whether or not I should seafoam. I've heard that it can cause damage and wondered if anyone has had good/bad expierences with it. I have a 97 Civic coupe ex with 204,000 miles.
Thanks!

nah, not really worth using. try auto-rx, its much safer and more effective. goto auto-rx.com, order the small 12 oz bottle, change your oil and filter, throw in the whole bottle with the oil (do not overfill crankcase), drive for 5000 miles, change oil and filter. im currently doing our 92 accord and can already feel a difference in the way it drives. the engine has massive varnish and sludge in it and im hoping most will get cleaned up. once the engine is clean, goto lubecontrol.com and buy some FP-PLUS for the gas, and LC20 for the oil. use these regularly to keep the engine in good shape. (FP-PLUS is added to the gas tank 1oz per 10 gallons every fillup, LC20 is added to the engine oil 1oz per quart when you first change the oil, then 1oz every 1k miles until you change oil again). with LC20, you can go up to 10,000 miles on a single oil change no problem. i usually do 8k since the oil filter may be clogged, but my engine is so clean that my old oil almost looks new when it comes out.

I used SeaFoam a few months ago and it worked great. Really smoothed out the idle. People say not to use it because if your piston rings are worn all that sludge is the only thing keeping your cylinders compressed so if you SeaFoam and clean them out you lose compression
