Rep Power: 0 Fast Idle Thermal Valve...
I used to have a beautiful silver '01 civic - some of you that know me might remember it, may she rest in peace. she was taken from me by those bastards at American Honda and sold at auction in December. yeah, i'm a little bitter.
anyway, i now have a new car... actually a used beast is more like it:
1994 Civic Ex Coupe:
Engine/Performance:
SOHC VTEC D16
HP Racing 4 to 1 Header
HP Racing Adjustable Cam Gears
Weapon R Short Ram Intake
AEM Fuel Rail
AEM Pressure Regulator
Fuel Gauge
Bosch Spark Wires
Bosch Platinum Spark Plugs
Skunk 2 Cam Shaft
B&M Short Shifter
HP Racing Exhaust from the Header/Stock Mid/HP Racing Muffler
Suspension:
Weapon R Coilovers
Tokico Shocks
Tire/Wheel:
17" RS Limited Black w/ Polished Lip
Nitto 205/40/17
Exterior:
Copper Gold Paint w/ White Pearl clear coat
Stock Front Bumper w/ Type R front lip
BMW M3 sideskirts - molded
Buddy Club rear bumper - molded
Shaved side moldings and door handles
Shaved and molded rain gutters on roof
Shaved trunk
JDM 1-Piece Projector Headlights
Interior:
Autometer Oil Pressure Gauge
Autometer 5" Tachometer
Reverse Indiglo Gauges
Well for the last week or so it has been idling really crazy and i've got all kinds of Honda ppl telling me that it's different things. i took it to a shop and they said that it was a "faulty fast idle thermal valve" and it would be $170 for parts & labor. does this sound right? just wondering because i had a couple of ppl tell me that i didn't need new parts and just needed to adjust something. any help anyone can give is appreciated. i'm trying to learn as much as i can about this civic and would take any opportunity to do the labor myself, as long as i don't end up costing myself more $$$.

Rep Power: 0 Hey bro check your timing it might just be the dizzy jumping, mine did that today and started freaking out on me but fixed it with a 12mm and turned the dizzy a little to the front of the car because some how the ecu advanced the engine while I was driving! If that isnt it check for air leaks, vacuum, maybe just reset your ecu... also unplug the TPS( Throttle position sensor and see if it changes at all if not that is it.. Let me know if any of that **** works!!
