Won't start

I have a 1997 civic 1.6. While driving on hwy heard pop noise saw white smoke. Stopped no leaks oil or radiator fluid. Vehicle will crank but won't start

Got spark? Got fuel? Got compression?
Will crank, but does it sound wrong while cranking?

Smells like burned rubber? Check timing belt?
