Rep Power: 0 2000 A/T - beginning of the end?
I just bought this coupe that has 166k miles on it. The car is very very clean even under the hood. Everything works on it. Timing belt looks brand new. When I put it in drive the unit nudges twice as it goes into drive. It didn't do this the first week I had it. While driving it shifts up and down just fine. Sometimes when putting it in drive I will hear a slight "clack" noise on the second nudge that sounds like it is coming from the front drivers side. Anyone experienced this scenario before?

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: 2000 A/T - beginning of the end?
Double bump is normal IIRC.
When you slap the lever to Drive the unit engages second gear, then a second later it engages first gear. This is done so there is less of an abrupt shock than if it engaged first gear immediately, especially when the engine is cold and on fast idle.
Clack? Could also be normal if it's coming from within the trans. Some of the cars can do it quite loud.
