What size belts do I need?

2000 Civic DX (with A/C) D16 non-VTEC

Will be doing timing belt and all accessory belts.
I figure Gates is the way to go for everything.
On Rock Auto they have different lengths for the A/C belt, which one do I need?
I first had the bottom one in my cart, then noticed the top one was specific for DX model.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Re: What size belts do I need?

Guesses:

It might depend on the brand of compressor. (Sanden or Denso)

It might have had either factory AC or dealer installed AC, and they might use different length belts.

Try looking it up using your VIN in a dealer catalog, then cross reference the part number to whatever brand you want. torontohondaparts.com/

Re: What size belts do I need?

Nice site you linked.

I found the OEM part# 38920P2A003.
Gates cross number is 4PK823.

Which is not even listed there.

I looked up the other belt numbers and none of them matched between Gates and RA.
So perhaps RA uses different numbers for their inventory.

Re: What size belts do I need?

Well it looks like the one they have listed specific for DX is actually for CRV. Even found a review on Amazon saying it was the wrong belt for his Civic.

Hmm, I'll just get the bottom one. I looked up the part number and says it's for 1.6L.

What do you think about the timing and water pump, think it'll be OK to go with Gates as well? Part number for kit = TCKWP224

Study about the Gates sizing and numbering system.
I think 4PK823 describes the belt size. 4 multi-rib, 823mm length.

Then they have a part numbering system too, I think these would probably be 'Kxxxx' numbers.

There's a good reason I try to stick with dealer parts.

Re: What size belts do I need?

OK, well I'm going to spend the few extra dollars and get the Aisin TKH-005 kit.
Seems like the next step from buying from the dealer. Plus it has great reviews and price is all right.

AISIN kit includes the following components:
AISIN Water Pump
Koyo Idler Bearing
Koyo Tensioner Bearing
Mitsuboshi Timing Belt
