2000 civic ex coupe 96,000 miles been getting p1457 evap code. changed canister shut valve after testing it as alldata shows for this code and showed the canister shut valve was bad so I replaced it and no luck still have code coming up. got the sts fail when i tried to run a test with my scanner but I dont know what it means. also did a smoke test and didnt find any visible leaks.

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
Re: sts fail?
Seems like STS FAIL would be a message from your scanner, not the car.
As in, it is unable to run bi-directional controls test or an EVAP system self test for whatever reason.
What kind of scanner are you using, anyway?
Status fail?
