Rep Power: 0 '96 Civic w/ 230k, possible repairs/replacement suggestions?
Hi, I'm new to the forums and don't have much of a background in vehicle repair. I did turn off my SRS light and fix my broken brake light switch with the help of youtube videos.
I just had a bunch of items replaced on my car:
- starter
- battery
- engine air filter
- distributor
- rotor
- distributor cap
- spark plug wires
- spark plugs
My car is about to hit 230,000 miles so I'm wondering what over types of things I should replace/repair to help increase it's life. I've had my '96 Civic (automatic) for 8 years. I purchased it from my aunt who bought it new and it's the only vehicle I've owned. I'm hoping to keep it running in good shape for at least another 2-3 years since I like not having to make car payments. Most of the repairs are basic things that I'd have to fix on any car and so far they haven't equated to the cost of a monthly car payment. However, I figure it's time to start paying better attention to maintenance and prevention. I've done the very basics like change the oil and replace the stark plugs when my mechanic recommends but I know there is more I can do to help increase the life of my car.
Any suggestions would be welcome, thanks!
