Rep Power: 0 97 Civic EX overheated & wont start
So my gf ran our 97 civic ex hot yesterday & i went to see what was goin on. I moved the car about 50 yrds from where she pulled it over on the side of the road at to a gas station parking lot the cut it off. The car ran like crap & wouldnt stay running unless you gave it gas. So i filed the radiator up to see it had a leak & cool the motor down but when i went to start the car to limp it home all it would do was turn over. Had the car towed to a import shop so the head could be pulled in the next few days & im being told a motor swap could be i my future if im wanting to keep the car so im looking for advice with this matter on wether to go back with the same motor or is there a diff motor that while drop in w/o changing everything under the hood. Its a 97 EX civic, motor is a B16Y8 if i remember correct all stock with 180k miles. Thx for any advice.

You have a few options really. The car has a lot of miles on the motor and in my personal opinion, you are going to pay just as much to have the car diagnosed and fixed as you would to swap in a good running motor. I would take the new motor. Start browsing CL.
