Hey everyone im new to this whole fourm thing, dontknow if this is the right spot to post this... but i just wanted to know the specs for a d16a motor? my dad recently bought an 1998 honda civic SI. I just wanted to know if the d16a is the original motor for this car or was it swapped? the car didnt have the si badge at the back and the valve cover didnt say vtec but i do see the vtec solenoid so it is vtec...i just wanted to know if if this car was really an si?? and im from canada.lol..also what are your thoughts about a d16a motor and its potential..thanks.
the canadian si is american ex
so its really not an si
it has to be siR to be real si so
d16a is ok i have a d16y8 and its ok but a built engine and 17psi turbo omfg amazing
i have a internet buddy he has d16 with 17 psi turbo and he has vids here is one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWUKFlJKHM8
does anyone know the exact specs of the d16a? and also what model/year did this motor come out of from? is the d16a equivalent to the d16z6 or the d16y8 because ive been getting different answers. and also since my motor isnt stamped d16y8 does that mean the original owner swapped in a d16a? thanks.

r u sure theres not another letter like d16a6 or something
no man im from Canada and our Si is equivalent to the American Ex so they are supposed to have a D16y8 SOHC VTEC and the Canadian SiR is equivalent to the American Si. now as i said your Si is supposed to have a d16y8 so it was swapped, also a D16a is not Vtec so it must have had a mini me swap done, how do i know ? my buddy swapped a d16a in his cx hatch, specs as i know for a stock d16a would be less then a d16y7 which is SOHC non vtec so your d16a is about 100 hp but since you possibly have a different head you are most likely getting more BHP
hope that kinda helps
