Rep Power: 0 [Help] Transmission problem?
Hey guys,
New to these forums, and in need of some help so please bear with me..
I have a '99 Civic LX 4door (automatic) -- around 102k miles
This problem seems to happen when I have it on D4. I notice it when I'm cruising between 30 and 40 mph, 4th gear, steady on the throttle. I would hear a slight grinding noise seemingly coming from under the engine compartment. It stops when I let off the gas, or push down on it. At times, the car would also run rough until I make the same action (let off the gas and/or push down). The two symptoms I've mentioned sometimes occur together or one at a time and at different orders. I've experimented with it before and put it in D3 and never had problems (of course not going so fast as to redline the RPMs). Could this be a transmission problem?
P.S. -- I've had this "symptom" for a few years now, but it temporarily went away after a family friend who's a mechanic did some maintenance on it years ago. Unfortunately I don't know what he did exactly since I was on vacation at the time.
I hope I explained somewhat clearly and that someone can help me.
