I just bought a '99 Civic LX that has the stock radio and Honda cassette player installed. I'd like to keep the cassette player and upgrade from the radio by buying a Civic CD player from eBay. I've never installed a CD player before and was thinking that I could make this a do-it-myself job with instructions from http://www.handa-accessories.com/civelec00.html letting me in on how to get at the electronic guts. Still, I'd like help in figuring out what the potential issues will be if I try this project.
1) Will I need new cables if I do this, or are all the cables I need already there?
2) Is there a security code that I'll need? If so, how do I find out how to program the code in?
3) Do I need to get a CD player from a '99 LX, or will any CD player from '99-'00 work?
4) I've read that my radio has a keyless entry controller built-in, so I would also like to buy a keyfob from eBay (I've found out what FCC ID I need). If I get a Civic CD player, will it have that built-in controller?
Thanks!
