99 Civic D16Y7 engine gnarly knock at 25-3500 rpm's
99 Civic 5 spd D16Y7 engine with kind of a gnarly knock at 2500-3500 rpm's. Car has 150,000 km's/90,000 miles. I have heard this same noise in several Civic automatics just as they shift or holding 70 kms /45 mph on a hill but it doesn't seem right. It isn't timing pings as I know what they are and I retarded the timing a bit to see if that helped but no difference. Are these 96-00 "D" engines known to be hard on crank or rod bearings? Any info appreciated.
