Replacing window regulator - tips?

96' DX - driver's door - the regulator blew apart, so I have it out, and on the bench, and I'm attempting a repair. The "can", I'll call it, that the crank shaft goes through: the 4 little ears that hold it to the main frame broke off, leaving the shaft flapping in the breeze. So - I'm attempting to repair it, but...

Seems upon installation of either this one, or another, the job will go smoothly if I bolt it back in in some specific order. There's the "rail", the regulator, and the bolts to the glass...

And of course, there's that pesky spring...

Advice?

Oh, and while we're at it, the other side (passenger) - the glass binds, and comes out of the front track if I try to put the window down... The front edge of the glass 'prys' out of it's track toward the outside of the door when the window gets about 1/3 or 1/2 way down - and binds. It's like one of the tracks is bent/misaligned ??? It's a real head scratcher for us at this point...

Re: Replacing window regulator - tips?

I had the same problems with my 97 hatch. Just remove the regulator and lube all the moving parts with white lithium grease and reinstall. Follow the instructions in the factory service manual to install the regulator and balance the window.

Re: Replacing window regulator - tips?

Yup - a bend regulator - straightened and cleaned/lubed - works well!
