2000 si gas guage not moving?

Hello guys, first time here. Just purchased my first honda yesterday. I had a maxima previously. I bought a 2000 Honda Civic SI from some guy, it is in really good condition. I got a really good deal from him, though the only thing he warned me about was that the gas gauge was broken. He said it was that, but I purchased the car thinking it could have also be the gas tank sensor, it was that good of a deal. From what I can see, it has the b16 engine, and the KEM intake. I think thats the only things he did to it. I was just wondering if there is an easier way to check that the gas gauge is really the problem without taking it to the shop. Also if it is how much do you guys estimate the fix is going to cost. I will be getting an alarm system installed today, because last night someone tried stealing it, if it wasn't that my brother got home around 2 last night and spotted someone. Re: 2000 si gas guage not moving?

most likely a bad fuel sending unit. possibly bad gauge cluster but usually not likely.
