Wobbly stick shift

I have a 98 Civic with a 5 speed. The shifter is very wobbly and bounces all around. I've heard that there is a bushing of some kind under the shift mechanism that can be replaced. Does anyone know of this and how hard it is to remove/replace?
Thanks

I've never removed it but... maybe your engine/trany is moving excessively? The shifter rod attaches to the back of the trany. How steady is your idle?

Check majestic honda for a parts blowup of the shift lever. It should be easy to replace.

Re: Wobbly stick shift

Idle is steady and car runs well. Nothing seems to be loose.

Re: Wobbly stick shift

Pull the center console and unbolt the shifter- there are 4 bushings sitting underneath it. Replace them with aluminum ones if you want a better feeling in the shifter. Also, there are bushings, rubber, where the shift cables connect to the tranny, looks like part 14 in that diagram posted above. They get torn and deteriorate over time. Raplace them with aluminum ones as well if made for your car. (check password JDM or strutking or some other aftermarket parts places).

Re: Wobbly stick shift

Bushings.... if you still care.

You can probably find bushings that will work at most parts stores, of course, aluminum bushings would give you the tightest feel.
