97 civic idling like crap

hey guys i own a 97 civic 1.6 vtec auto... recently the SES light came on and is hunting for idle between 1500 and 2000 rpms... i believe the code is a p1337 which is the idle air control valve.... should i replace the valve or is there something else i can do To remove this ad, register today for free or log in if already registered!

Code P1337 indicates a problem with the Crankshaft Speed Fluctuation (CKF) sensor circuit. Are you sure you have the right code?

There are several things that can cause a hunting idle. If you suspect the IACV, you can remove it and clean it out with brake cleaner. There's a screen in there that can get clogged up.

yeah i messed up... it was a p1509.. i did take my iac apart and i dont think there was a screan in it

OK, the P1509 indicates IAC Valve Circuit Failure so it's something to do with the wiring. Check if you've mixed up the IACV and TPS plugs. They have the samt plugs. (Or was it IACV and MAP?) Anyways, check f the right plug is plugged into the IACV.
