| Re: 98 DX dash light Have you checked your fuses? It sounds like one might be blown. If not, consult the owner's manual to determine which fuse(s) would operate your dash lighting and/or stereo. They'll be located in the fusebox inside the cabin, which is located below and to the left of the steering wheel, towards the bottom of the dash. There's a small plastic panel covering it which pops off. You will be able to see if the fuse is blown after pulling it and looking at it.
If it's not a fuse - have you had the alternator checked? My alternator began to fail on my 98 dx and, although the stereo worked, the light behind the fan speed switch would occasionally go out or fail to turn on when the car was started, only to randomly turn on later. This problem went away when I replaced the alternator. (Note: the alternator malfunction light didn't come on even though the alternator wasn't working.)
If neither of these is the culprit, perhaps pull the aftermarket stereo and make sure none of the wires are being shorted/frayed insulation/etc? |
