2000 civic chugging

6th Gen Honda Civic In the years from 1996 to 2000 Honda released it's 6th Generation Honda Civic. This Honda Civic had a more aggressive front end and overall body style. It was an instant hit among import tuners.

2000 civic chugging

I recently bought a Manual 2000 Civic EX Coupe with 94,000 miles. The gentleman I bought it from appears to have taken very good care of it. However, the engine chugs a little while I accelerate and I notice it doesn't accelerate as quickly as it should when I am at low-mid rpms. When I hit 3k or so it seems to smooth out. The car has an AEM cold air intake installed, which I am in the process of finding a stock one to replace it. Any ideas where to start poking around?

Re: 2000 civic chugging

i bet it just needs a tuneup, like new plugs and wires, tighten throttle cable, clean out intake system and idle air valve, etc. just go around and inspect stuff. start using lubecontrol.com gas and oil additives. works wonders.

also make sure that intake is properly installed and there are no air leaks around the rubber grommets or clamps. and the iat sensor is securely in the pipe, and that there is a hose connecting from the intake to valve cover (pcv hose).
