Re: Valve cover gasket/oil splashes everywhere

Give it a good cleaning so there is no or almost no old oil. Then have someone turn the car on while you check to see if you can spot the oil leak. Or take it on a very short drive and see where the leak is coming from.

Check the plug on the left side of the head where the distributor would be if it had one, this plug/seal deteriorates and could cause a bad leak.

Re: Valve cover gasket/oil splashes everywhere

I have the same issue in my 01 Civic LX. The main area of the oil present is on the driver side .

Re: Valve cover gasket/oil splashes everywhere

If you still cant find the leak. Try cleaning off all the leaked oil, and use some leak detection dye in the engine oil. Drive it around for a bit and then go back and check with a black light or uv light that is used with the dye. You should be able to spot the oil leak easily.

but the other method of cleaning and checking is good for most all leaks. You will be able to find the leak after you clean off the old oil, this way you see the fresh oil dripping out of someplace
