Rep Power: 0 Bubbling steam out coolant overflow tank after long drive then idle.
Posting for a girlfriend of mine. She had finished driving about 4.5 hours straight on the freeway, had entered the city, and was stopped and idling, waiting for someone for about 5 min. As soon as she started driving again she noticed steam spewing out the right front corner of the hood. She opened up the hood and found the overflow tank bubbling and spewing steam. The tank's cap had popped off but was lucky sitting next to it on the battery. She poured about 500ml of water in the overflow to stop it. She never noticed if the temp gauge was above normal but it wasn't elevated immediately after pouring in the water (that's when she remembered to look.) Could this have been a one off thing from a long drive and then idle or does it point to something else possibly? I imagine the coolant will need to drained and refilled at least, due to the added water? Any help is appreciated guys. Cheers

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one
