I have a d17a1 engine on my civic and I would like to install a turbo kit my question is what do I need to rebuild in the engine so it can withstand 15 psi and still be a daily driver. My goal its 400 to 500 hp can it be done?

D17A1 engines has very less to offer you will never accomplish that type of hp increase the only way you could gain would be a K series swap. Hope this help.

To answer your question....
D17a2 head with a turbo stage 3 cam, low compression pistons, a beast of a turbocharger pushing 31psi, high flow injectors/fuel pump, and a return style fuel system conversion, just to name a few things. Oh, and one hell of a tune.
There was a guy on here that had a D17A1 pushing 489whp and high 300's ft-lbs torque, and he went through, I wanna say, 5 engines before he got to where he was. He was pushing 31psi boost. You won't find his stuff on here anymore since he deleted all of his posts when 7thgencivic.com got sold and became civicforums.com
edit: I edited the title to reflect the correct engine.B and D series engines are quite different, not to mention the B17A1 is only found in a 92-93 'teg gsr
