Does my car support keyless entry?

I have a 2002 honda civic LX sedan. I want to get a key fob but I don't know if my car supports it. It did not come with a key fob originally. It does have power locks. I've been told that only the EX civics can support keyless entry. On the other hand, I've been told that as long as it has power locks it will work. I just want to know for sure before I buy a fob.
Plz help
Thanks

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Re: Does my car support keyless entry?

but I don't know if my car supports it.
The LX was not equipped from the factory with keyless.
It is not really prewired for it either, not unless someone purchased a Honda accessory keyless kit and installed it. The kits had a pile of wire harnesses that made it a plug-in install.

Adding a factory keyless unit isn't all that tough if you like wires, it's simpler than a radio install IMO. The original kits are discontinued, but the unit only uses 4 wires and it's not real difficult to scrounge one from a u-pull-it along with its wire harness connector and some length of the wire. Hopefully the fobs too.

I walked someone through an install and it worked for them, read this thread:
