Rep Power: 0 HELP! 03 ex coupe d17a2 cranking but not starting
I have read through this forum several times, I have seen similar threads on this subject but not exactly what is going on with mine.
2003 civic EX coupe d17a2,
Replaced head gasket, reset timing to TDC lined up crank and cam pulleys, Getting spark and fuel, replaced plugs, crank position sensor, idiot checked everything, fuel pump is priming good. I am going to do a compression test tonight.
But if it comes back good which I believe it will.. then I am at a total loss on what it could be...
any help would be appreciated!

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

No start at all, not even trying to fire?
Forget any grounds?
Does this look familiar?

It is turning over, misfires one time and then just turns... The grounds are sanded and in the correct places, will not even start with starter fluid..

Thought is was flooded at one point... Took the plugs out they were a little wet. Went ahead and replaced them with ngks had autolites in originally.. No change after with throttle wide open trying to start. Like I said I have read thru many forums trying to find the answer just haven't found it yet when the compression test is done that may give me my answer.

Wet plugs won't fire, and a flooded engine can lose enough compression that it won't fire. Need to restore the oil film to the cylinder walls so the rings can seal, and dry out the raw gas from the cylinders if possible.....
Remove plugs,
Dump about a tablespoon of oil into each cylinder.
Leave the plugs OUT.
Throw a towel over the plug holes.
Crank engine over with the starter for several seconds to distribute oil film all over cylinder walls.
Reinstall DRY plugs.
Hold gas pedal to the floor.
Crank and see if it will fire.

Did a compression text did 90 30 30 60 I don't think flooding with lose that much compression. I'm thinking rings are a must now.

I thought it was it was tdc and crank and cam were lined up... I could be wrong I will be doing a full rebuild on it just to make sure unless you think it could be something easier lol

line up TDC on the crank, take a pic of it, and take a pic of the cam position also, post them both

Did you put oil in the cylinders like I suggested?
Were valve clearances adjusted when it was reassembled?
Did you ever rotate the cam or crank while the timing belt was off?
Did you set the head down flat on the floor or workbench after you pulled it off the engine?

Timing was a little off. Haven't put back together yet, checked valve clearances they were a smidge off not any cause for concern. I'm having a second look at it then will put a little oil in cylinders and see if I have any progress.
Can't figure out how to post picture off my phone.
