2002 civic ex sedan radio problem

Last few days when I leave work my FM stations are all static. I check the cubby underneath and the bottom of the radio is scorching hot. The past few days have been hot. It comes back after I run the ac a bit to cool off the radio. Never did this until I brought my car in for airbag recall. Any thoughts? AM and cd work fine.

my guess is it's coincidence and your radio is old and can't handle the heat. Kids and animals die in a hot car, so do electronics. My phone gets a heat warning and turns off if I leave it on the dash for navigation.

Where do you live? I'd try parking in the shade, leave the windows cracked, or get a window shade. Or all of the above.

I work at an airport, so there's absolutely no shade at the parking lots. I was going top tint the Windows anyway, so maybe sooner than later. And I'll probably get the shade too. The airport is also a military airport, so I thought maybe there was an FM dead spot. Dunno. It was just strange.

I guess there could be interference cause I'm sure there's a lot of radio signals bouncing around there. But I doubt any of them are on FM frequencies as you could tune to that frequency and hear air traffic control.
