Guide to buying used Hondas

Hey there,

Could someone point me in the direction of a buyer's guide for used Hondas.

I'll be looking at two Civics ('01 & '02) tomorrow both with 170k + on the clock.

Is there anything in particular that I should look for/ask?

Thanks for any info in advance! (I feel the only people without a gender are real users online with no ulterior motive).

Re: Guide to buying used Hondas

Welcome.

Are the automatics or manuals? There have been issues with the auto transmissions on the early years like 01 and 02.

Headgasket issues were another known problem with the 01-05 year civics. At 170k if there were any issues they may have already happened.

Thanks for the reply.

The cars are both automatic (in Southern California). Ah, you've got me worried now about the transmission! Anything I should look out for with reference to the gearbox?

I don't fancy driving a manual as I've driven one my whole life in the UK and would like to adapt to the American way of driving.

But we do it all wrong here

I don't have an automatic and I can't recall what the exact issue with them was.
