01' EX maxing losing speed when floored...

Howdy fellas,
So some time ago (month?) my civic started doing this:
It seems to accellerate & run ok around town, like under 40MPH...
If I get it out on the turnpike, and hit the gas pedal, the RPM's jump up accordingly, but the car barely gains speed.
Example: I was on turnpike other day, and was on a long gradual incline, and I couldn't hold 60MPH.
The RPM's shoot up to 4000, and the thing just barely maintains speed/starts losing speed: I actually had to pull into the breakdown lane to let a semi pass me.
So in other words, I guess the passing gear kicks in, but it has no power.

hmm
It has a very recent oil change.
I did just go out & look at the air filter, and it looks great.
I popped off the injectors for fun, but can't tell much from looking at them.
No recent work at all on it.

thoughts?

Thanks for any help lads,
Rich

No CEL? Does it even work at all?

Or no codes?
Did you even check for codes?

Got a scanner that can let you read live engine data?
What's the O2 sensor B1S1 voltage do when the engine runs out of power?

198,000
Hmm...
Backpressure test?
How to measure exhaust restriction directly with a pressure gauge screwed into the primary O2 sensor hole. Google it.

OR google for how to determine exhaust restriction by using a vacuum gauge (vacuum drop method).

The RPM's shoot up to 4000,
Redline is a lot higher than 4k.

If you floor it from a stoplight, does the engine pull strong up to redline all the way through 1st and 2nd gears?

Or does it get anemic at 4000 no matter what gear?

I did that.

Your answers gave me a basis for some more diagnostic questions which I was sort of expecting to gain more useful information with, but they are yet unanswered.
