How tight should my pulley be

When replacing my serpentine belts one of the wheels (the lowest one right behind the cars wheel) felt a little wobbly when I moved it with my hand. My question is how tight should it be? I tightened it so it doesnt wobbly but should it be just tight enough where I can spin the pulley wheel with my hand or where its stiff? Thanks for any answers

Re: How tight should my pulley be

The 19mm bolt that holds the crankshaft pulley on is supposed to be torqued to 148 ft/lb.

It will spin with the crankshaft, yes that can be done by hand.

what exactly do you mean spin it with your hand?

are you meaning without using any tools?

it sounds like the key might be missing which holds the pulley in place and your spinning the pulley without turning the crankshaft,

the pulley/crank would be/should be very difficult to turn with your bare hands, maybe even impossible

Even if the key were missing, it wouldn't spin free with a tight bolt.

When all the pistons are at the top and bottoms of their strokes, the crank is easy to turn. Once you are trying to move all the pistons in their bores it gets real difficult to turn due to ring drag, and need to use tools.

I do it all the time to line up marks (tweak position) when doing a timing belt job.

Now....What does OP really have going on?
