side mirror glass size

So my wife was backing out of the driveway and the side mirror glass just fell off and shattered. The mirror backing is still in place so I just need the glass. Rockauto shows a 7 3/16" flat glass and a 7 1/16" flat glass. This will be going on a 04 Si. I doubt a 1/16" would make a difference, but technically, what is the correct size? Thanks!

Re: side mirror glass size

Get it from dealer, it should pop right in place into holder.

Yeah, it's only 40 bucks. Depending on the side it's either part 2 or 7 here.
So your wife told you it just fell off all by itself, huh?

no it totally did. She was leaving to go to work, I was still in the house. I heard glass break and thought "oh great, she backed into my WRX." Went out, and there it was, on the ground. The car has 112k on it, and I'm not sure how it stayed on this long. the mirror didnt have any adhesive and the little plastic backing, that I assume is attached to the motor, had none on it. Glad it came off in the driveway instead of on the highway.

Forgot to mention, Rockauto has it for around 17 bucks. I'll avoid the dealer if at all possible. Just wanting to know what the correct size is, or if even a 1/16" would make a difference.

Re: side mirror glass size

I'm not sure about the size... I guess you can get a ruler or something. It would be a shame if the thing was too wide to fit or adjust properly. I'd probably go with the smaller one to be safe. For the record, I'm glad she didn't back onto your Subaru.

There should be clearance for that tiny bit larger.... and the plastic clip on the back will set the spacing.

Good price, never checked oem $$
