My 01 LX Coupe does not have the built-in armrest into the console, does the armrest version bolt right in or needs to be modified?
I've seen them on 03 EX, was this an option for a certain year or trim level?

I think the console-w-storage-bin version replaced the fold-down version IINM. My '04 EX has the bin console with armrest.
I don't think there's anything preventing a bin console from bolting in AFAIK. However if you already have a fold-down armrest, there'll be a big hole in your side bolster as they obviously won't fit in the same space.

NO armrest? Well that's a butt. Looks like they came standard for 2002+. Here's a link that may help you: https://www.civicforums.com/forums/1...l-armrest.html

Yeah the parts for a bin console brand new, are eye-watering (almost $400 with lid). I wanted to swap out the somewhat dingy cover for my bin console... until I saw it was $114+ just for lid & hardware.
If you're determined to get a bin armrest, a j/y is probably your best bet.

Trim shouldn't matter but you're looking for a 7th gen older than 2002. It looks like the armrest bolts directly to the seat in your model car, whereas mine is the actual lid of my center console. Look for a Civic with a nub growing off the driver's seat!

If the cost is similar, go for the bin console out of a salvage yard ASAP. Then you not only have an armrest but also a surprisingly amount of storage space. Depending on where your pickyard is, it'll be a fraction of brand new, and only a bit more work to remove vs. a seat armrest.
