Buying an 01 Civic?

I am thinking of buying an 01 civic w/ about 150k. Is this year problematic or should I Choose and older one? Thanks.

Manual or auto? Are maintenance records available?

Re: Buying an 01 Civic?

01-05 auto trans civics are problematic, not an issue if the car is a manual. The later years 04-05 are suppose to have that problem worked out. Also head gaskets are an issue. It's the luck of the draw.

96-00 civics have less issues.

It's a manual and I do not know about the service records.

Re: Buying an 01 Civic?

yeah 96 had less issues back in 96 but its 18 years old now and thats 18 years of rust in most places not to mention unless you buy it from a grandma that only drove it on sundays an kept it garaged its most likely been in the hands of some 16 year old kid that beat the crap out of it.the older gens are more popular with ricers.
