Rep Power: 0 travelling 450 miles with 02 civic?
I have an 02 civic ex that Im bringing up north to norcal and was wondering what I should prepare the car for. I dont want to get stranded. Im replacing the starter motor tomorrow since it went bad. the engine has about 160k miles and so does the car itself. I just changed the oil and recently put some engine coolant in. Breakpads should be good as well. Can my engine take it? I mean ill be driving the car for at least 6 hours straight no break and if I do take a break it be like 30 minutes. Can my engine handle being driven for that long?

have you changed timing belt, due at 100k?
have you noticed any coolant loos through the coolant reservoir?
spark plugs - how long ago, as in miles?
check tire pressures
if maintenance is in order, the first two are the most famous that could go wrong, otherwise any engine would be OK.
i drove back 1200 miles full of stuff in the trunk/rear seat/ passenger seat in my civic with a small head gasket leak and it still did best MPG ever on the trip.

If the maintenance schedule has been followed and all the fluids are topped up and the car has had an inspection recently you should be A okay. However at that age it's impossible to tell if something is going to fail or not.
