Re: awesome idea but hard work

Before throwing a V-8 in a Civic, realize you are going to add a lot more weight in the form of 4 more cylinders, a much larger automatic or manual transmission and a rear end. So, your power to weight ratio is going to change, not to mention the balance of the car. Also, to fit a V-8, you are also going to need to cut the firewall out and move it back. You will also need to cut the floor of the car up to fit the transmission. The suspension for the rear end is going to be completely fabbed up along with creating some sort of solution for holding the extra weight up front too. Then, your going to need to supply this V-8 with a lot of fuel so the stock system is going to need to heavy modification. Add an exhuast, find an oil pan that fits your crossmember, etc, etc. Then, there are the 1000 little things that are going to pop up. Even if you do all the work yourself, I'd say you have a project that would costs $1,000's.

It would be cool, but a hell of a lot of work.

Back when Bugs were plentiful and cheap, I wanted to do something like this. Didn't have money to burn, didn't have time and space either.
