Rep Power: 0 New brakes squeak while releasing brake pedal??
I replaced my brake pads and rotors and lubricate the caliper pins today and everything went well except that I'm getting this slight squeaking noise when releasing the brake pedal. There is no noise at all when braking and brakes are working great. Any idea what this noise is ? I tried to brake and release the pedal while the car is at a full stop and there was no noise while releasing the pedal. I am guessing the noise is coming from the surface between the new pads and new rotors while the pads are getting released from turning rotors, that sucks!

Where is the noise? Under the dash or out by the wheels? My pads do that too. Two sets now and both did it. They came from NAPA if that is where yours are from.

The noise is from the front wheels area but it's becoming intermittent after two days of usage so I'm hoping it will eventually go away by itself. The pads and rotors are wearever platinum ceramic pads and wearever rotors from advance. One thing I noticed is that the noise go away when I engage the parking brake at a stop and come back when I have it disengaged, does the parking brake lock the front calipers or something ? I thought the parking brake only connects to the rear drums

Actually I was wrong I assumed it was coming from the front because the noise started right after I installed new front brakes and i didnt touch the rear so I assumed its the front as I never had a squeak before. I had someone pump the brakes last night while I put my ear on each wheel, the noise is coming from the rear right wheel. I'm going to clean the drums and rear brake assembly and put some grease between the shoes and backing plate and see if this will fix the squeak. It's funny you fix the front brakes and your rear brakes start to squeak :-)

Yea just lubricate it up and your good to go. It will come back eventually. This is VERY common with these cars.
