I bought white LED 74 lights for my cluster and thought the orange lighting in my 2001 ex cluster odometer would be white..My goal was to keep the orange needles and have a white background. I've searched online and looks like I have to buy a film?

There's an orange film "painted" on the backside of the gauge face. Only way to change the color of the numbers is either to get a gauge face overlay or to remove that orange film, but you risk irreversibly damaging the gauge face.

You have to take off the needles and hope you put them back on correctly. That's gonna be the pain in the *** part. Getting those needles on correctly is not an easy task
edit: here's what an overlay looks like. I had orange needles, but I decided I wanted them to be blue, as well, so I cleared them and installed LEDs to make them blue. They're white during the day
edit 2: I should note that overlays are a bit difficult to find nowadays, and they're usually only available in blue/green. I've only seen white a handful of times.
edit 3: I stand corrected. I guess they're making a comeback. This is probably about as close as you'll get to the effect you want.
