Rep Power: 0 noobie driver rev help!
i wanted to rev my car, but the pavement was on a slant so i put the clutch in and put it in neutral. i then kept the clutch in and reved it to about 3-5k rpms about 3 times
did i burn my clutch badly?
is that something really bad to do?
agh im really worried.
please give me some feedback
regards,
cona

If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

OTOH, slipping the clutch excessively is bad.

what do you mean by slipping the clutch?
when i shift gears, i usually put some gas with releasing the clutch to make the ride smoother.
im assuming i am slipping the clutch
how can i drive smoother without doing that?

You were in neutral, with the clutch in (engaged) and then you revved? No harm, really. Why not let the clutch out and rev? Same result. Now putting it in gear and dropping the clutch (disengaging quickly) or slowly letting it out (slipping) with the revs high, isn't good. This would take some life out of the clutch, but only if you do this often, should you worry.
