Rep Power: 0 2001 Civic cold start whining noise
Hi guys
I have a 2001 civic ex, during a cold start (especially when its cold outside) my car make a whining/winding sound and it looks like its coming from where the belts are at.
I got the belts and water pump/cooler done about 3-4 months ago and during that time the weather is warm and nice then winter season starts and ever since then my car produce a whining sound on cold start
Any guess/ answer what it could be? the car runs smooth
also the winding noise only last for a minute or two
Thanks guys
looking for a short ram intake PM me I live in CA

the tension on the belts may not be adjusted properly or the belt might actually be defective. if the noise continues i would recommend going back to the shop that installed your parts.
If you used aftermarket parts that could be your problem as well.

could be a number of things.....
- loose belt
- power steering pump
- alternator
- a/c compressor
- timing belt
- timing belt tensioner
- water pump
i would start by removing the power steering belt.....start the engine and see if the noise goes away.....if its still there remove the alt belt, start the engine and see if it goes away.....process of elimination
