If you think a good mechanic is expensive, try hiring a bad one

Both hoses have the exact same amount of pressure in them.

You need to understand how the cooling system works, and what the job of a radiator (heat exchanger) is, before you think anything is wrong.

How cold is it out there?
Car outside?
Is there a breeze?

If the temp gauge reading looks high, then something is really wrong. The gauge should remain in the normal spot from the point the stat opens to the time the fans run. The "normal" spot on the gauge covers a broad range of temperature (approx 170-220?) without hardly any movement at all.

Re: cooling problem???

Did you replace it with an oem or aftermarket thermostat. Did you replace the gasket as well?
