Re: spark plug gap?

Get a haynes & chilton manual from your local auto parts dealer (autozone, advanced, etc.) it has all the information you need to know. It saves you time, and me time.

P.s. I'm a bad man I don't gap my plugs

Re: spark plug gap?

Eyeball it, if its not closed or really small it is probably fine. Years ago ignition systems only ran 15k volts or less, large gaps wouldn't fire. With the advent of distributorless ignition systems and coil on plug systems that go an easy 75k volts they will jump a large gap with ease. Also gap would effect the ignition timing quite a bit. Now the electronics can control timing quite a bit too. While it is still important, don't get me wrong, it isn't quite as big of a deal as it "used to be". With that said even the late 90s cars that had a distributor wanted the distributor installed at straight up 0*, then the computer took over, even then the electronics had capability to advance or retard something like 12*. I can only guess now 15 years later.
